We were delighted to welcome a special visitor into school today - Eric, from Ghana. Eric is in the country on a teacher exchange programme with Airedale Junior School, another school in our Northern Ambition family, as part of the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms project.

Eric spent the whole day with us and took part in lessons in: English, Maths, Food Technology, Music and MFL. In addition, Mrs Reader took Eric on a tour of the whole school. Our students asked Eric many well-considered questions about the Junior High School wherehe works and his country in general. This day made our staff extremely proud of our well-mannered and inquisitive students!

Eric also brought the academy a stunningly beautiful hand-crafted wood carving as a gift from his school, which we will treasure. We gave Eric a bag full of Yorkshire-themed gifts to take home with him, as well as some much needed resources for his school.

In addition, some of our Year 8 students wrote letters to some of the children in Eric’s school and hopefully, we will get some replies to keep the connection going strong! All in all, a wonderful day!
